Club Members & Guests:
FIRST AND FOREMOST, THANKS TO RACE DIRECTOR PAT BROWN, RELAY DIRECTOR BOB PLATT, AND ALL THE VOLUNTEERS WHO MADE OUR 47th ANNUAL GEORGE WASHINGTON BIRTHDAY MARATHON SUCH A SUCCESS THIS PAST SUNDAY.
AS YOU CAN SEE FROM THE RESULTS PAGE, WE HAD A LARGE TURNOUT OF MARATHONERS AND RELAY TEAMS. IT WAS ALSO A LONG DAY FOR THE VOLUNTEERS, WHO DEMONSTRATED A COMMITMENT AS STRONG AS THAT OF THE ATHLETES. CONGRATS AND THANKS TO ALL. AND THANKS TO ALL THE ATHLETES WHO TRAVELLED, MANY FROM FAR DISTANCES, TO CONTINUE TO SUPPORT THIS RACE, ONE OF THE NATION'S OLDEST MARATHONS. 1. Track Workout Cancelled: I regret again having to cancel the Track Workout for this week. The current snow is expected to fall through the evening, with uncertain impact on roads and the running surface. Also, there is no guarantee that lights will be provided under these conditions.
2. Club Challenge 10-Mile Runners Needed: As of this morning, DCRRC had 21 entrants in this Sunday's (2/24) Club Challenge 10-Miler. While this is a decent showing, a glance at the Howard County Striders website shows that we lag far behind a number of other clubs.
Please register if you intend to run and have not already done so. And if you have not yet considered this race, please do so.

Details can be found under the "Programs" button to your left. This program is designed for novice and beginning runners, but also intermediates.
4. RRCA Coaching Certification Clinic -- June 28/29: The RRCA will sponsor a coaching certification clinic on Saturday and Sunday, June 28-29, in Arlington. DCRRC will pay the full cost of tuition for Club members who want to take the course, up to 10 registrants. This requires the commitment of an entire weekend, and completion of an end-of-course exam. Priority will be given to Club members who have coached previously in one of our training programs, and intend to continue coaching in the future.
Please contact the Club president ASAP if you are interested. Spots fill up fast!
5. Club Meeting and Banquet, March 30th: PLEASE REGISTER NOW AND SAVE THE DATE! Sunday, March 30, 2008, at 5:00 p.m., at Maggiano's at 5333 Wisconsin Avenue, Washington DC, near Friendship Heights Metro, is the date and place of our annual meeting, elections, and banquet. Keynote speaker will be Keith Dowling, former international class athlete and direction of the National Marathon. Other awardees and speakers will be announced over the next few weeks.

3. GWB Marathon, Sunday February 17: Volunteers Needed! The 47th Annual George Washington's Birthday Marathon, one of the nation's oldest 26.2 mile events, needs your support! We have runners signed up from around the country, and still need volunteers for the water stops and sentry points along the way. We realize this will be a chilly day, but it's also a lot of fun to be out on the beautiful Greenbelt course and cheer on both the marathoners, and the Marathon Relay participants.

Enter at www.striders.net Please use entry code: cDsm55 The Club will pay all entry fees, as well as provide incentives for those who participate. 6. Capital Hospice/DCRRC 12K: Kudos to James Scarborough, our friends at the Capital Hospice, and all who participated in the annual Custis Trail 12K on Saturday February 9th. Perfect running conditions were offset only slightly by the very challenging climbs up and back on the Custis Trail. Thanks to our friends at Arlington County Parks and recreation for making available our new starting point at Bluemont Park, which seemed to work very well.
We hope to see many of you in Greenbelt on the 17th!
