Upcoming Needs:

Volunteer for Rock N Roll DC Marathon

DCRRC will be supporting a new location for water stops at the Rock and Roll Marathon on March 10.  We will be at stops 9/10 on South Capital Street, about a mile from Nats Stadium. This is an out-and-back portion of the course, with the two stops across the street from one another; the first at about 16 miles, the other at 17.5 miles.  There would be about 3000 marathon-only runners at this point. Our job is to set up the outbound stop with water, walk across the street and set up the inbound stop, which needs Gatorade and water.  Then we would move back and forth depending upon demand.

The stops are about a half mile south of the Douglass bridge.  We need to start setting up by 700 AM, with runners expected around 815 AM. We’d be done by 1130 AM or so. Parking is available on the side of the road by the trolley maintenance yard which is near the stops. Volunteers will get parking passes to identify their cars. If driving isn’t an option, it’s also possible to use Metro and be there in time to hand out drinks, but note that Metro doesn’t open until at 700 AM on Saturdays. The Metro stops at the Navy Yard and in Anacostia are the closest.

Volunteers for 2018 Langley 8k

Saturday, February 10, 2018 - Mclean, VA

The Langley 8K is an out-and back route with several twists and turns, so the club needs lots of volunteers to help keep everyone on course (seriously, the more volunteers, the less chance participants end up accidentally running a 10k..) We also need volunteers to help with race day registration and check-in. This race boasts a 10 am start (yay, sleeping in!) and lots of parking! Also, volunteering during the race fulfills the Snowball Series requirement.

Want to volunteer? Sign up at this link or contact James Scarborough if you're available to help out before or during the race.

Volunteers for 2018 Burke Lake 12K

Sunday, March 4, 2018 - Fairfax, VA

The club needs lots of volunteers for the Burke Lake 12K for assisting with race day registration, course marshalling, and aid stations. Come out and volunteer with us if you have friends or family members running or you want to hang out with fellow members while helping out the club! Volunteering during the race fulfills the Snowball Series requirement.

Volunteers for 2018 Fort Hunt 10K

Sunday, March 11, 2018 - Alexandria, VA

The club needs volunteers for the Fort Hunt 10K. This race features 5 laps around Fort Hunt Park, so volunteering gives you plenty of opportunities to cheer for your friends or family members that are running. Volunteering also counts for Snowball Series credit.

If you'd like to volunteer, register here or please contact Paul

Constant Needs:

We are always looking for Saturday Long Run refreshment volunteers. If you plan to attend SLR for at least 2 consecutive weeks, and haven't volunteered in a while (or at all), please consider helping to support the group (and yourself)! This is a fairly easy job, all you have to do is bring gatorade, water, and cups to SLR on Saturday morning, and the club will reimburse the expenses (think of all the rewards points you can get!)  Please (read: please, please, pretty please) check the SLR Page for dates needed, and e-mail slr@dcroadrunners.org if you are able to help out!
