    Upcoming Needs:

Rock and Roll Marathon Water Stop

DCRRC will be supporting a new location for water stops at the Rock and Roll Marathon on March 9, near last year’s position (the course has been changed from last year). We will be at stops 9/13 on Randle Circle at the Ft. DuPont Park entrance. This is an out-and-back portion of the course, with the two stops across the street from one another; the first at about 16.9 miles, the other at 22.1 miles.  There would be about 2500 marathon-only runners at this point. Our job is to set up the outbound stop with water and gels, walk across the street and set up the inbound stop, which needs just water.  Then we would move back and forth depending upon demand.

The stops are about a half mile east of the Douglass bridge.  We need to start setting up by 645 AM, with runners expected around 820 AM. We’d be done by 1130 AM or so. Parking is available on the side of the roads near the Circle. Volunteers will get parking passes to identify their cars. If driving isn’t an option, it’s also possible to use Metro and be there in time to hand out drinks, but note that Metro doesn’t open until at 700 AM on Saturdays. The Metro stops in Anacostia and the Navy Yard are the closest.

The 58th Annual GW Birthday Marathon!

DC Road Runners will be hosting the 58th Annual George Washington's Birthday Marathon and Marathon Relay on Sunday, February 17, 2019 in Greenbelt, MD. This race is a Boston qualifier with a local, small crowd feel.

This is one of our signature races, and we need lots of volunteers to put on this event on race day, including course marshals, aid station personnel, food service at the post-race party, packet pick-up, course clean-up. On Saturday we also need people to help with course set-up and packet pick-up.

All volunteers will receive an AWESOME long sleeve volunteer tech shirt and plenty of free food throughout the day!

Note: for people running the DCRRC Snowball Series races and for participants in our spring training programs, volunteering at the George Washington Birthday Marathon counts toward your volunteer requirement (and is one of the few non-series race volunteer options for the series jacket requirement).

Please register here to volunteer. Contact Delna Clark, with any questions.
