SLR April 1 - Ross Drive

Hello Saturday Runners!

Tomorrow's route on Saturday April 1, will be Ross Drive (additional map here), for about 14.5 miles. With all the rain we're getting today, I'd probably recommend avoiding the trail portion after Lover's Lane that will most likely be muddy and sloppy. The shortest method to do this route while detouring on pavement is to keep going east on M St past the regular turn at 31st St, and then just after 28th St and before going over the Rock Creek bridge, hop onto the paved path on the left side of the road. This will add a little bit of distance to the route vs. the standard mapped version, but the difference shouldn't be too great. If you'd like extra distance, each loop of Ross Drive is about 3.5 miles, or to shorten the run you can simply go out & back on the Rock Creek Park trail. This is one of my personal favorite SLR routes, and the rain should have stopped by Saturday morning, so you should all be there tomorrow!

Thank you Irene Thomas for post-run drinks this week! Volunteer needs along with the weekly route & distance schedule are always kept up-to-date on the SLR web page, and you can email me any time to schedule your slot. Post-run volunteers are typically scheduled for at least 2 consecutive weeks to cut down on handoffs of the bins, and because it's a relatively easy job. Post-run drinks are entirely volunteer supported, so if you regularly enjoy this SLR perk, do your part to keep it going! Volunteering is easy, doesn't take a lot of time, and all restocking expenses will be reimbursed by the club.

Happy running!

Mike
