SLR Mar 10 - Chain Bridge Loop

Hello Saturday Runners!

This Sat, March 10th, we will be running the Chain Bridge Loop Route.  The listed route mileage is 10 miles.  Check the cue sheet and map for full details.

Please thank Janet Braunstein for our post-run Beverages.  As always we are looking for drink volunteers for the upcoming months.  Email slr@dcroadrunners.org if you can help out.

Directions:  From Iwo Jima, go through Rosslyn and take Custis Trail West, just after crossing bridge over Spout Run Pkwy, turnoff sharp left, go under bridge and turn left on bike trail to Lorcum Lane.  Right on Nellie Custis Dr (hill), becomes Military Rd.  Enjoy the long hills until end of Military Rd, turn right over bridge, then left at Bike Route sign. Take steep hill down to Chain Bridge and cross on left side, now take walkway on left to C&O Canal towpath.  Return towards Georgetown next to the water (bathroom at Fletcher's boat house).  Take key bridge back through Rosslyn to Iwo Jima.

Mileage Options:

  • 7: make it a hilly out and back, turning around at 3.5 miles out on Military Road at 27th Street North, or run on the C&O towpath for a flat out and back.
  • 12: run route as written, but take C&0 towpath through Georgetown, take Rock Creek trail back to Memorial Bridge to return.
  • 14: Run the Marymount/Chain bridge route

The 4 Courts 4 Miler race will be going on from approx. 9-10am so be mindful if you plan on running/driving through Rosslyn or across Wilson Blvd during that time.  Looks like great running weather -  have fun!
