Club Members and Guests:

DON'T MISS the Weekend section in Friday's Washington Post, which will feature DCRRC training programs as part of a story on how to train for a 5K or 10K race.

1. NEXT CLUB RACE is the Burke Lake 12K, Sunday March 1, 2009, at 10:00 am. This is an out and back course about 1/4 on roads and 3/4 on well-marked trails. See Club Calendar for more details. The following race and final Snowball Series event will be the Fort Hunt 10K on Sunday March 8 at 10:00 am. Race director Kristen Blanchat (k_blanchat@yahoo.com) is looking for a few volunteers to help with this race.

2. Sun Trust National Marathon, March 21, 2009: Race Staff and Pace Group Leaders Needed: The National Marathon needs pace group leaders, starting at 3:50 through 5:20, to lead runners to their race goals. FREE entry is guaranteed. If you have already entered, the Race will refund your entry fee. Please contact the Club President at dcrrcpresident@comcast.net if you are interested.

The National Marathon also needs race day staff, to help with the SAG wagons and on-course timing. The positions carry a stipend of $100.00. Please contact the Club president if interested.

3. The Club's March Board Meeting will be Monday, March 9, 2009, at 7:00 pm at the Silver Diner in Clarendon. On the agenda will be slating officers for the 2009-2010 year. If you are interested in such a position, please contact Kerry O'Brien: raptorkerry@yahoo.com

4. Club Annual Meeting & Banquet: March 22, 2009, 5:00 pm at Maggiano's in Washington DC. More details below in the previous blog posting.

5. 10K Training Program: The program continues on Saturday, February 28, at 8:00 am at Gotta Run in Arlington. Further details in the previous blog posting below.

PLEASE talk up the volunteer, marathon race staff, and other needs expressed in this notice. March is one of our real crunch times as a Club, but the planning and commitments we make at this time are what carries us through the next year.

Thanks,

Ed
