SLR April 9 - Water Route

Hello Saturday Runners!

This week at SLR we'll be running the 11.75 mile Water Route (additional map here), which I originally scheduled a few months ago hoping to see some Cherry Blossoms, but unfortunately at this point they've already come and gone... instead we get snow! If you're tapering for Boston or any other spring marathon, there are a few easy ways to shorten this route. For 10.5 miles, skip going around the Tidal Basin, and head directly back after Hains Point, past the Jefferson Memorial and over the 14th St Bridge. For 8 miles, in addition to skipping the Tidal Basin as above, turn left at Buckeye Drive before you get to the East Potomac Park golf course, and do not run all the way to the end of Hains Point. The forecast for tomorrow is looking cold, wet, and windy, so bring your weather-resistant gear, and let's get through this crazy April morning together!

Thank you Paul and Christine Westcott for post-run beverages! We're going to need more volunteers after next week, so please let me know when you're available to help. I've also now posted our schedule through most of June on the SLR webpage, up until the week before the fall Marathon Training Program kicks off. We'll once again provide mid-run drinks for the group starting in June, so please be thinking about that as well, in terms of when you can volunteer.

Up-to-date future volunteer needs as well as a route schedule are always available on our web page, and you can email me to schedule your slot. Any time you can volunteer for at least 2 consecutive weeks is helpful, and if you can do 4 weeks (or more!) that's ideal. Volunteering is easy, and all of your expenses for supplies will be reimbursed by the club.

Happy running!
