Welcome! This is the home of the world-famous (well, maybe locally well-known) SLR.
Our start time is at 8:00 AM until next summer! Every Saturday we meet at North Meade Street Park, a small park northwest of the USMC War Memorial (Iwo Jima Memorial) in Rosslyn. The closest address for mapping purposes is 1300 Arlington Blvd, and street parking is available in the neighborhoods adjacent to N. Meade Street. Be mindful of parking signs, since Arlington County enforces them enthusiastically, and please do not park on Marine Memorial Circle (inside Iwo Jima), because this parking area is for memorial use only. At least one porta-john is available year-round near the Iwo Jima Memorial, and the memorial's water fountain is usually on during the summer.
We run rain or shine! In cases of extreme weather (snow, ice, thunderstorms, heat waves) we do occasionally either change our meeting time or cancel the run for safety, but the run will be held as planned unless otherwise posted via email/twitter/facebook and here on the SLR web page.
All are welcome! We're an informal group, and there are no requirements for speed, racing experience, or what distance means "long" for you, other than the suggested route that most of our group will be running each week. If you don't want to run the same distance or course as the main group, you can go out for half of your own target distance and re-trace your steps back to Iwo Jima. More specific route info and mileage options will be given in the email/post preceding each Saturday's run. SLR always features a run from our extensive Route Catalog, which gives us a wide range of options to keep things fresh for you each week. We have routes that are flat, hilly, looped, out & back, roads, sidewalks, trails, and more, reaching all around the local area of DC, VA, and MD!
For more details about Saturday Long Runs please read our Frequently Asked Questions to get a sense for what it's like to run with us, or send an email to Anna if you have any other questions that are not covered.

This Saturday, Sept 21st, we will be running the Glover Panda Route listed at 13 miles. Please be careful running through Glover Archbold park from miles 1-5 as footing can be spotty. I will be out of town but have a sub starting things off.
Thank you to Chris Britz and Walter Barret for post-run drinks! We could always use additional drink volunteers - the next few months of post-run drinks are wide open. Its not a lot of work and the club reimburses your expenses. Check the SLR Webpage for dates of need - email SLR@dcroadrunners.org if you can help out!
Have a great run!

Hello Runners!
This Saturday, Sept 14th, we will be running the Arlington Triangle - clockwise in direction! So this means heading south on Mt. Vernon, past DCA, and onto 4 Mile Run First. This ensures plenty of water fountains and downhill running on the Custis Trail at the end of the run when it will be warmer out. Route is approx. 16 miles in length. I will be out of town but have a sub starting things off.
Thank you to Chris Britz and Walter Barret for post-run drinks! Mid-run drinks are still being coordinated but they should be on schedule and in the usual spot on W&OD. We only have a few mid-run drink needs left, and post-run drinks volunteers are needed for the coming months, so please if you can consider helping out - especially if you have never done drinks or its been a really long time. Check the SLR Webpage for dates of need - email SLR@dcroadrunners.org if you can help out!
Run Strong and enjoy the cooler (and drier), Fall weather!!

This Sat, Sept. 7th, we will be running the Cathedral + Clintons route. The listed route mileage is 13 miles. You can start enjoying that extra hour of sleep - SLR Start Time is back to 8:00am!!
Please thank Chris Britz and Walter Barret for post-run beverage work this month, and Graham Magill for our mid-run drinks! Drinks volunteers are always appreciated. Right now we still have a few mid-run drink needs open (9/14, 9/28, 10/5) as well as post-run drinks for the coming months. Its not a lot of work and the club reimburses your expenses. Email SLR@dcroadrunners.org if you can help out!
Mileage Options:
11: While on Cleveland Ave, take a left (instead of a right) on 34th street to cut off Cathedral portion. Then left on Massachusetts Ave to rejoin the route. This cuts off a mile (but you'll mis the drink stop...). Then you can also return via Key Bridge to cut off another mile
13: Run route as written, take Rock Creek trail back, and cross Memorial Bridge to return.
15: As you are on your way back on the Rock Creek trail, run up toward the Lincoln Memorial and out Henry Bacon Dr. to run on path next to Constitution Ave, right on 17th Street, past WWII memorial, right on Independence Ave, take that back to Memorial Bridge; this adds 2 miles.
