Club Members & Guests:

1. GWB Marathon -- Sunday February 15, 10:30 AM: Volunteers are still needed for the GWB Marathon and Marathon Relay, Sunday Feb. 15th, at 10:30 am. You may satisfy your volunteer requirement for the Snowball Series by working this event. Please contact race director Pat Brown at pbrown@noblis.org This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it or 703-476-5765 if you can help.

Registration for the race is available on-line. See information below in the previous blog post, or check the DCRRC Calendar and click on Feb. 15 for more information.

2. SunTrust National Marathon and Half-Marathon:

a. The Club is managing several aspects of race-day logistics. There is a need for personnel to ride with the "SAG Wagons," which patrol the course from start to finish in order to pick up runners who are injured or otherwise incapable of finishing. You will serve as a navigator, not driver. There is a base stipend of $75 for this work. If you are interested, please contact the Club President at dcrrcpresident@comcast.net

b. The Club is also providing on-course timing officials. A stipend of $75 is also available for these positions, which will require you to pick up the timing clock the day before the race, transport it to the designatd spot on the course, and be there until the last runner finishes. Please contact the Club president at the above e-mail address if interested.

c. Finally, "regular" volunteers are also needed. There is a link to do so on the SunTrust National Marathon website: www.nationalmarathon.com

3. RRCA Challenge 10-Miler -- A Snowball Series Event: The 2009 RRCA Area Challenge 10-Mile Race is less than three weeks away, on Sunday Feb, 22nd. Those who enter and run for the DCRRC will be scored in their age groups and awarded Snowball Series points accordingly. The race is at 8:00, and starts on the campus of Howard County Community College in Columbia.

YOU MUST PRE-REGISTER FOR THIS EVENT. THERE IS NO ENTRY FEE; THE CLUB WILL COVER THIS.

5. Thanks! Tou our race directors and volunteers for the successful 2008-2009 Snowball Series events. Last Sunday's Custis/Hospice 12K had a record turn-out, and was a successful fund-raiser for a very worthy cause. Thanks to James Scarborough, the folks at Capital Hospice, and all the runners and volunteers.
