Changes in Rrack Workout and 10/14 X-C Race

Club Members and Guests:

1. October Track Workouts: A reminder that we will be on the track the first two weeks of October, on Wednesdays October 4 and 11. After that, the workouts will switch to Tuesday night for the remainder of October only. Workouts will start at the usual time of 7:15 on Oct 4 and 11; workouts will start at 7:00 on the 17th and 24th.

Workout for October 4 will be 4 x 1600M @10K pace, with a 400M recovery jog. It is advisable to do a "pace progression" here: start out a 5-10 seconds slow than 10K pace on the first repeat, and finish the last one at 5-10 seconds faster.

Workouts for remainder of the month will be posted.

2. Bunion Derby Results: Results have now been posted:

If you have any questions regarding these results, please contact Toni Diegoli ASAP: tmdiegoli@hotmail.com Deadline for changing results is October 5th.

3. Landon School Cross-Country Meet: On Saturday, October 14, the Club will provide finish line services at an invitational high school cross-country meet at the Landon School in Bethesda. Also, at the close of the high school races, around 5:15, there will be an open 3-Mile event sponsored by DCRRC.

Please consider volunteering for this event. It's a long day, so if you can only come for a portion, that is fine.

4. Thanksgiving Day 5-Miler: This is the Club's biggest race, and biggest revenue-producer, of the year! Volunteers are urgently needed to staff the finish line. Please contact Assistant Race Director Susan Hage at HageS@usa.redcross.org if you can help. Race is at 10:00 am starting at the Cora Kelley Scholl in the Del Ray section of Alexandria.

Please note that the Snowball Series will include a requirement of volunteering at a Club race in order to be eligible for an age-group award. Volunteering at the Turkey Trot will satisfy this requirement for the 2005-2006 Snowball Series.

Enjoy the great running weather that October brings!
