SLR December 28 - Festivus Run

Hello Saturday Runners!

For the final SLR of 2019 tomorrow morning on December 28, we will be doing the 14 mile Festivus Run (downloads: cue sheet and GPS). If you'd like to adjust the length of this route, you can run either longer or shorter up and back on 16th St, to create either a taller or shorter Strava-art Festivus pole.

In addition to the final SLR of 2019, this is the final week I will be your SLR leader. I've had a great time over the last five years planning out the routes and running them with everyone on Saturday mornings, and I'll still be out there whenever I can, but I'm looking to simplify weekly commitments with my wife and I expecting our first baby in February! You'll be in good hands in 2020 with Megan, and you can now contact her at megan@dcroadrunners.org for anything SLR related.

Thank you Kenneth Riley for post-run drinks this week! We will need more volunteers in February and beyond, so please let me know when you can help. The weekly schedule of volunteers, routes, and distances is always kept up to date on the SLR web page, and you can email me any time to book your slot. For general info on how volunteering works see the SLR FAQ or send me an email if you have any other specific questions.

Nominations for 2019 club awards (presented at the Club Banquet in March 2020) will be accepted until January 5, 2020. You may submit multiple nominations, for the same or different awards, and self-nominations (anonymous or not) are allowed. Also, we have added a grand-masters (60+) category to the awards this year. This is your annual chance to recognize the outstanding achievements of all the great runners with us every week at SLR!

We're looking for more volunteers to staff the upcoming Al Lewis Ten Miler, on Saturday January 11, so please sign up to help there if you can.

Happy running,

Mike
