SLR October 26 - MCM and Southeast DC

Hello Saturday Runners!

Good luck to all of our SLR regulars who will be out there running Marine Corps this weekend! While the weather on Sunday isn't looking ideal at this point, a not-too-cold rainy marathon is better than a hot and humid marathon (which happens for MCM sometimes) so don't get discouraged! As in recent years, DCRRC is again partnering with Hope for Warriors in the Charity Village, where you can go meet up with your family, friends, and other club members both before and after the race. Additional information and details are on the club home page.

For those of you who aren't running MCM on Sunday and aren't out too late at the World Series on Friday night (go Nats!), our regularly scheduled long run on Saturday morning, October 26, will be Southeast DC (downloads: cue sheet and GPS). The route as mapped is 13.5 miles, but if you'd like to shorten things you can bring your SmarTrip card and hop onto the metro back to Rosslyn from either the Eastern Market station (at 8.5 miles) or the Smithsonian station (at 10.5 miles), both of which the route will go right past. I can't make it to SLR this week, but Megan will be filling in for me on Saturday morning to kick off the run. Don't forget that club happy hour is tonight (Thursday), 6:30pm at Ireland's Four Courts, where we'll also be giving out Bunion Derby awards.

Thank you Eiko Sato for our post-run drinks this week! The weekly schedule of volunteers, routes, and distances is always kept up to date on the SLR web page, and you can email me any time to book your slot. For general info on how volunteering works see the SLR FAQ or send me an email if you have any other specific questions.

Happy running,

Mike
