SLR October 7 - TIME CHANGE 8:00 AM - Mt. Vernon Trail

Hello Saturday Runners!

TIME CHANGE reminder! Don't forget that starting this week, on October 7, we will be returning to 8:00 AM meeting time for the season, since the weather is finally cooling off.

This week's route is an out & back run on the Mt. Vernon Trail (downloads: cue sheet and GPS), for a recommended distance of 14 miles. You can easily adjust this to whatever length you would like, by simply running either longer or shorter before turning around. For 14 miles, you'll turn around at the north end of Old Town, for 10 miles at the Four Mile Run trail intersection, or for 20 miles past the Woodrow Wilson Bridge near Belle Haven.

Thank you Marzia T. for post-run drinks this week! Now that the runs are getting shorter for your MCM taper, and the heat isn't as bad, we will not have organized mid-run drinks until next summer, so be sure to carry your own fluids if you will need them. I've now posted a schedule of routes and distances to cover the 6 week gap between our summer and winter training programs, and volunteers are still needed for the month of November, so please get in touch with me if you can help.

Volunteer needs along with the weekly route & distance schedule are always kept up-to-date on the SLR web page, and you can email me any time to schedule your slot. For more details on how volunteering works, please see the SLR FAQ, or get in touch with me if your questions are not addressed there. SLR drinks are entirely volunteer supported, so if you regularly enjoy this perk, do your part to keep it going!

If you're not running the Marine Corps Marathon yourself but would like to cheer on your friends who are, join DCRRC to volunteer at staffing Water Stop #2 in Georgetown! (the same place as last year) Ted Cochrane will be the team captain for the water stop. To come and help out, please register using this linkEnter "MCMDCRRC" as the password and you'll be automatically selected for water stop #2. Fill in your personal information and you're done!

Happy running,

Mike
