SLR June 3 - TIME CHANGE 7:00 am - Glover / Soapstone / Rock Creek

Hello Saturday Runners!

Don't forget: Our meeting time will be shifting one hour earlier to 7:00 am for the summer, starting this week!

Our run this Saturday, on June 3, will be a 14 mile loop, along the Glover - Soapstone - Rock Creek trails through DC (downloads: cue sheet and gpx). To shorten this route, you can make it about 12.5 miles by returning via the Key Bridge, or run out & back along the Glover - Archbold trail for up to about 10 miles. For a longer run, you can make it about 16 miles by continuing down to the 14th St Bridge before crossing the river, or if you're feeling really ambitious do a Hains Point loop too for 20 miles. It looks like we have some nice & sunny early summer weather in store this weekend, and hopefully a cooler start to the morning on Saturday!

With warmer weather in mind, we are now at the start of organized mid-run drink stations for the summer! Please don't forget to thank this week's volunteer, Clara Lau, when you see her at Pierce Mill with water and Gatorade waiting for you. Thanks also to Elizabeth Kelley for covering post-run drinks. There are still lots of opportunities to volunteer for mid-run drinks this summer, as well as post-run drinks later in the season, so please take a look at how you can help out.

Volunteer needs along with the weekly route & distance schedule are always kept up-to-date on the SLR web page, and you can email me any time to schedule your slot. Post-run volunteers are typically scheduled for at least 2 consecutive weeks to cut down on handoffs of the bins, while mid-run drinks can be booked on a week by week basis. SLR drinks are entirely volunteer supported, so if you regularly enjoy this perk, do your part to keep it going! Volunteering is easy, doesn't take a lot of time, and all restocking expenses will be reimbursed by the club.

Happy running!

Mike
