Dec 15 HPT Workout -- So it begins

According to the Gregorian Calendar the Boston Marathon is 18 weeks from today! Which means we should probably start structuring some workouts around it and Cherry Blossom (one week apart).

As we have during the last training cycles, we will start our first tempo run at 15 minutes and gradually extend it all the way up to 40 minutes three weeks before the race. Your pace should not vary much from now to then, the only difference should be the amount of time you are running at pace.

For this evening we will meet above the Iwo Jima memorial at 6:30, warm up to the Jefferson memorial, and continue on to the tennis court parking lot on the east side of Hains Point.

We will begin the tempo segment at the tennis courts, running west on Buckeye Drive, making a right on Ohio Drive, and following the river all the way up to Georgetown.

A 6:00 pace should get us to VA Ave. and Rock Creek, anything slower than that should come up just short of Georgetown.

See ya tonight.

Gathering Points:
Iwo Jima: at the bike share station on N. Meade Street at the corner of 14th.
Jefferson Memorial: at the water fountain near the refreshment kiosk on East Basin Drive http://goo.gl/J49wvl
Georgetown: the corner of Virginia Avenue and Rock Creek http://goo.gl/hdzMcy

If you get dropped by the group:
Keep running or walking toward Georgetown, the group will  gather up at Virginia Ave and Rock Creek, and will start backtracking to find stragglers after a few minutes. Please do not stop or head a different direction without telling someone.
