National Marathon Support. Discussed DCRRC’s rule in supporting the race. Karol Murray will contact the Race Director on what assistance they may need, but the Board’s preference was to staff a water stop/cheer station and clocks/sag wagon.

Reports:

Training Programs: Kenny Ames updated the Board on the training programs.

Army Ten Miler. Emily Glossman plans to lead the training program. The Club is finalizing the MOU with the ATM. Estimate approximately 300 participants that will require approximately 20-25 coaches who will be provided comp entries. The program will include the four-week jump start program again. The race is 24 October.

National Marathon/Half Marathon. The training program is now closed for participates and proceeding. The JFK 20K will serve as a turn-up race. A Happy Hour is scheduled for 14 January with a budget of $300 for appetizers.

10K Training Program. Alex Albertini volunteered to lead with the Capitol Hill 10K as their target. To be determine the start location for the program.

Vision for the DCRRC Training Program. Expand programs to additional races (e.g., Cherry Blossom, MCM 10K, Half MTP, etc.), but this requires expanding our pool of coaches and coaching certification.

Finances: George Getek updated the Board that $133,289 is held in the various Club accounts. The Turkey Trot race support netted approximately $34,000 for the Club. Karol Murray and Elizabeth Humphrey will assist George Getek with development of the annual budget.

Races: Ben Richter updated the Board on the Club races.

Gar Williams Half Marathon and the Bread Run 10K were a success despite of the weather conditions. However the Al Lewis will be postponed due to the icy condition of the trial and potential for more wintery weather. No refunds will be offered to the paid registrants; rather they will be offered entry in the rescheduled race or another DCRRC race.

The Club has been experiencing added expenses to hold our races that may results in a need to raise non-member entry fees in the future. Also, it has been more difficult to obtain NPS permits. Ben Richter is arranging a meeting with the NPS to discuss the issues.

Training on the timing system will be offered to our race directors at the JFK 20K. All race directors should have a working knowledge of the timing system in case our experts are not available.

Volunteers: Kristin Blanchat is overseeing volunteer coordination. Please provide her any ideas for improving volunteering. The volunteer webpage is up. Membership: Katie Madison briefed membership numbers. With online signup and renewal, the Club has seen an increase in the number of members.

Operations: Brian Danza updated the Board on his research for Club banners, miler markers, a Club tent, etc. Approval on how to proceed is pending the final costing package from the vendor.

DCRRC will field a team in the Columbia Club Challenge. We need to encourage participation.

Karol Murray will be out of town during February. Brian Danza will be acting in her absence.

Other Business.

• Georgetown Running Club is interested in greater involvement with DCRRC.

• Van parking will be relocated to the garage ($115 per month) once we a key-code lock. Michael Collins is coordinating.

• New sponsor: Capital Rehab.

Karol Murray adjourned the meeting at 8:55 PM. Next meeting: Monday, 8 March 2010.
