DC ROAD RUNNERS CLUB ANNUAL MEETING MINUTES

The meeting was called to order at 5:25 PM. Last year’s annual meeting minutes approved.

Report from the Membership Secretary:  Toni Marie Diegoli distributed a breakdown of the membership statistics by gender, state, member type, age group and gender, and age group and state.  She reported a total Club membership of 1,278 which is an increase over the approximately 1100 members from 2007.

Report from the Treasurer and Presentation of the 2009-2010 Annual Budget:  Ed Grant reported that the Club is proceeding with two capital expenditures, new van and electronic timing system, that will result in an account balance of approximately $100,000 when the procurements are completed.  George Getek then distributed the Treasurer’s report that detailed the 2008-2009 planned budget, 2008-2009 end-of-year budget, and the proposed 2009-2010 budget.  The 2008-2009 end-of-year budget reflects a total account balance of $136,749.53.  Ed Grant made a motion to approve the proposed 2009-2010 budget and the motion was approved.

Election of 2009-2010 DCRRC Board of Directors:  The nomination committee of Kerry O’Brien and Ian Clements presented the slate of:

Rob Wolfe made a motion to approve the nomination slate as presented and the motion was approved by the general membership.

Presidential Address:  President Ed Grant commended the nomination committee and welcomed the new Board.  Ed introduced Peter Lamberton as the next president of the Club and mentioned Peter’s integral work in building the 10K and 10 Mile training programs.  Ed recognized the National Marathon and DCRRC’s involvement, along with its partners including Georgetown Running Company, Gotta Run, and Fleet Feet, with the event through its training program, coaches, volunteers, and runners.  There were approximately 100 trainees in this year’s program.  Ed thanked Keith Dowling and Jeff Frost for their work with the National Marathon.  Ed acknowledged Jay Wind as the marathon’s volunteer organizer.   Ed thanked the departing Board members - Kerry O’Brien, Joe Racine, Ian Clements, Richard Rapine, Toni Marie Diegoli, Rob and Judy Wolfe, and Tom Lehrenz - as well as all the DCRRC race directors and volunteers.  He spoke about his gratitude to others including Max Reid, Robin Martz, Susan Hage, Pat Brown, Chuck Evans, Bob and Delabian Thurston, Jay Wind, and Paul Thompson.  Ed presented a gift certificate to Tom Lehrenz for his retirement as general counsel of the Club.  He was proud of the accomplishment of the past year that included the growing training programs, new website, partnership with Race Packet to publish the Club newsletter, new electronic timing system, the Club’s fiscal responsibility, and the Club races and race volunteers.  Ed thanked his wife, Julie, for her support and love.  In closing, Ed was grateful for his 10 years of service as an officer of the Club and 3 years as President and he is looking forward to a great future ahead for the Club.

The DC Road Runners Club is a member of the Road Runners Club of America and is also affiliated with USA Track & Field. We provide a year-round schedule of running events that offer everyone a chance to participate regardless of age, gender, or athletic ability.
