The Army Ten Miler race will b e held Saturday\, October 8\, 2023. \n \n Our 14-week training program begins the first week of July and convenes as a group every Saturday mornin g (a.k.a. &ldquo\;Saturday Long Run&rdquo\; or &qu ot\;SLR"\;) at North Meade Street Park\, which is across the street from the U.S. Marine Corps W ar Memorial in Rosslyn\, Virginia. The training pl an begins on Sunday\, July 2\, 2023 \;and the first group long run will be held on Saturday\, Ju ly 8\, 2023. \;Group long runs will operate th rough Saturday\, September 30\, 2023. \n \n Th e training program runs rain or shine with few exc eptions. The program is open to any healthy adult at virtually any level of athletic ability. There is no speed requirement and all paces are welcome. We recommended that trainees be running 10 or mor e miles per week and able to complete a long run o f at least 3 miles at the beginning of the trainin g program. If you have not run a 10-miler or half- marathon before\, we strongly recommend that you c onsult your physician prior to entering this progr am. \n \n You must be a member of DCRRC to par ticipate in the half-marathon training program. If you are not currently a member\, or need to renew an expired membership\, you can complete the nece ssary steps here: DCRRC Membership Information. Th e training program cost is $25 for current DCRRC m embers in good standing. You must also select and register for a race on your own\; we do not provid e guaranteed or free entries. Training program mem bers are encouraged to participate in / volunteer at the Club'\;s many free races and events\, wh ich are included in your annual membership fee. We are all part of the DMV'\;s running community and it'\;s up to us to keep it inclusive and vi brant! \n \n **Registration is open to those p articipants 18 years of age and older as of the st art of the program.** \n \n What'\;s includ ed in the training program? \n \n \n Coach ing for your pace and fitness level \n \n DC RRC training t-shirts and opportunities for other Club swag \n \n Weekly informational updates and training plans \n \n Weekly training ru ns: \n \n \n Saturday morning group runs \n \n Mid-week speed workouts \n \n \n \n Occasional seminars by profess ionals in physical therapy\, diet and more \n \ n Social opportunities throughout training seas on \n \n Motivation and camaraderie found on ly with a training group \n \n \n Weather Po licy: Safety is our number one priority. A race\, training run\, or other event may be canceled\, de layed\, suspended or postponed\, or the course may be modified in the event of threatening weather c onditions that could make the run unsafe for parti cipants. Such threatening weather conditions may i nclude: lightning\, heavy rains\, wind / tornadoes \, extreme heat\, ice / snow\, or other major weat her conditions. Extreme heat is defined as a heat index that meets or exceeds 105 °\;F at the tim e of the event or run. Lightning strikes within on e mile of the planned course are considered threat ening.
