The Army 10-Miler race wil l be held Sunday\, October 9\, 2022. \n \n Our training program begins the first week of July an d convenes as a group every Saturday morning (a.k. a. &ldquo\;Saturday Long Run&rdquo\; or SLR) at No rth Meade Street Park\, which is across the street from the U.S. Marine Corps War Memorial in Rossly n\, Virginia. The 14-week training plan begins on Sunday\, July 3\, 2022 and the first group long ru n will be held on Saturday\, July 9\, 2022. Group long runs will operate through Saturday\, October 8\, 2022. \n \n The training program runs rain or shine with few exceptions. The program is open to any healthy adult (18+ years of age) at virtua lly any level of athletic ability. There is no spe ed requirement and all paces are welcome. We recom mended that trainees should be running 9 or more m iles per week and able to complete a long run of a t least 3 miles at the beginning of the training p rogram. If you have not run a 10-miler or half-mar athon before\, we strongly recommend that you cons ult your physician prior to entering this program. \n \n You must be a member of DCRRC to partic ipate in the half-marathon training program. If yo u are not currently a member\, or need to renew an expired membership\, you can complete the necessa ry steps here: DCRRC Membership Information. The t raining program cost is $25 for current DCRRC memb ers in good standing. You must also select and reg ister for a race on your own\; we do not provide g uaranteed or free entries. Training program member s are encouraged to participate in / volunteer at the Club'\;s many free races and events\, which are included in your annual membership fee. A race\, tra ining run\, or other event may be canceled\, delay ed\, suspended or postponed\, or the course may be modified in the event of threatening weather cond itions that could make the run unsafe for particip ants. Such threatening weather conditions may incl ude: lightning\, heavy rains\, wind / tornadoes\, extreme heat\, ice / snow\, or other major weather conditions. Extreme heat is defined as a heat ind ex that meets or exceeds 105 °\;F at the time o f the event or run. Lightning strikes within one m ile of the planned course are considered threateni ng.
