Targeting the Capitol Hill Classic 10K  \;‪on Sunday\, May 19\, 2024\, our training prog ram ‪begins the week of March 17 with the first group run on Saturday\, March 23 at 9:00 AM \; in Washington\, DC'\;s Navy Yard neighborhood.& nbsp\;Street and lot parking is available. \n \n The training program runs rain or shine with few exceptions. The program is open to any healthy adu lt at virtually any level of athletic ability. The re is no speed requirement and all paces are welco me. We recommended that trainees be running at lea st twice per week and able to complete a long run of at least 2.5 miles at the beginning of the trai ning program. If you have not run a 10K before\, w e recommend that you consult your physician prior to entering this program. \n \n You must be a me mber of DCRRC to participate in the 10K training p rogram. If you are not currently a member\, or nee d to renew an expired membership\, you can complet e the necessary steps here: DCRRC Membership Infor mation. The training program cost is $15 for curre nt DCRRC members in good standing. You must also s elect and register for a race on your own\; we do not provide guaranteed or free entries. Training p rogram members are encouraged to participate in / volunteer at the Club'\;s many free races and e vents\, which are included in your annual membersh ip fee. We are all part of the DMV'\;s running community and it'\;s up to us to keep it inclus ive and vibrant! \n \n **Registration is open to those participants 18 years of age and older at t he start of the program.** \n \n What'\;s inc luded in the training program? \n \n \n Coach ing for your pace and fitness level \n \n DCRR C training t-shirts and opportunities for other Cl ub swag \n \n Weekly informational updates and training plans \n \n Weekly training runs \n \n Social event opportunities \n \n Motiva tion and camaraderie found only with a training gr oup \n \n \n Weather Policy: Safety is our numb er one priority. A race\, training run\, or other event may be canceled\, delayed\, suspended or pos tponed\, or the course may be modified in the even t of threatening weather conditions that could mak e the run unsafe for participants. Such threatenin g weather conditions may include: lightning\, heav y rains\, wind / tornadoes\, extreme heat\, ice / snow\, or other major weather conditions. Extreme heat is defined as a heat index that meets or exce eds 105 °\;F at the time of the event or run. L ightning strikes within one mile of the planned co urse are considered threatening. It is up to the r ace director or run leader to determine whether th e conditions are threatening and communicate any d ecision to alter the event or run to participants.
