Targetin g the Capitol Hill Classic 10K ‪on Sunday\, May 21\, 2023\, our training program ‪begins on Satu rday\, March 25 at 9:00 AM on the patio in front o f Pacers Running Navy Yard store\, located at  \;300 Tingey St SE #160\, Washington\, DC 20003.&n bsp\;This is just a 5-minute walk‪ from the east side of the \;Navy Yard-Ballpark Metro statio n. If the Blue\, Orange\, or Silver lines are more convenient for you\, our meeting location is appr oximately one mile from the Capitol South station. Street and lot parking is available in Navy Yard\ ; it is patrolled often. \n \n The training prog ram runs rain or shine with few exceptions. The pr ogram is open to any healthy adult at virtually an y level of athletic ability. There is no speed req uirement and all paces are welcome. We recommended that trainees be running at least twice per week and able to complete a long run of at least 2.5 mi les at the beginning of the training program. If y ou have not run a 10K before\, we recommend that y ou consult your physician prior to entering this p rogram. \n \n You must be a member of DCRRC to p articipate in the 10K training program. If you are not currently a member\, or need to renew an expi red membership\, you can complete the necessary st eps here: DCRRC Membership Information. The traini ng program cost is $15 for current DCRRC members i n good standing. You must also select and register for a race on your own\; we do not provide guaran teed or free entries. Training program members are encouraged to participate in / volunteer at the C lub'\;s many free races and events\, which are included in your annual membership fee. A race\, training run\, or other event may be cance led\, delayed\, suspended or postponed\, or the co urse may be modified in the event of threatening w eather conditions that could make the run unsafe f or participants. Such threatening weather conditio ns may include: lightning\, heavy rains\, wind / t ornadoes\, extreme heat\, ice / snow\, or other ma jor weather conditions. Extreme heat is defined as a heat index that meets or exceeds 105 °\;F at the time of the event or run. Lightning strikes w ithin one mile of the planned course are considere d threatening. It is up to the race director or ru n leader to determine whether the conditions are t hreatening and communicate any decision to alter t he event or run to participants.
