This group is intended for club members with several years of racing experience who want to take their running to the next level. Consistency, structure, and avoiding injury will be emphasized. Participation is free and open to those who can reasonably aim for the following times:

Half Marathon 1:28 1:35
Marathon 3:05 3:15

Weekly Schedule

Each week will include two workouts and a quality long run. The exact schedule will depend on participants' goal races.

Monday

Meet above the Iwo Jima Memorial at 6:30 or near the Jefferson Memorial for a warmup, tempo run or hill repeats, and cooldown.

Wednesday

Meet at Washington-Lee High School in Arlington at 6:50pm, warmed up and ready for drills, strides, and stretching. We'll participate in the regularly-scheduled club workout (usually or fartlek) at 7:30pm.

Saturday

Meet at North Meade Street Park in Arlington for a long run (pace varies). Start time corresponds with the club Saturday Long Run.

August 27 HPT tempo run

Welp, I hope you all enjoyed the short reprieve from the hot weather. Tonight is going to be steamy.
 
This evening we are supposed to do 33 minutes worth of tempo. That means the entire Hains Point loop clockwise starting at the 14th street bridge underpass. 
 
Get excited for next week, when we get to do 8 hill repeats.

Special Edition HPT tempo 8-23-2018

Hey everyone, as promised today we are going to have a special edition Thursday tempo run to make up for the skipped tempo run, race, track this week. 
 
The plan for tonight is 30 minutes of tempo along the long Hains Point route. 
 
If you are coming please let me know so that we aren't waiting around.
 

August 20 HPT tempo-maybe-not-tempo run

Hey everyone, so we are going to have a slight change of plans for this week because of the race tomorrow and canceled track on Wednesday.
 
Tonight: depending on whether you plan on racing tomorrow, easy6 mile run or full tempo. We will determine who is doing what at the Jefferson Memorial.
Tomorrow: race at Burke LakeDCRRC Paul Thurston 4.5 Miler
 
Wednesday: No track
 
Thursday Evening: special edition tempo run to replace today's run. I will send out another email on Thursday morning.
 
That said looking forward to seeing everyone tonight, and hopefully getting tacos. Except for Cole, who is thankfully out of town and will not be getting tacos.
