DCRRC Saturday Long Run (SLR)

Welcome! This is the home of the world-famous (well, maybe locally well-known) SLR.

Every Saturday, our runs begin at the parking lot at the USMC War Memorial http://www.nps.gov/gwmp/usmc.htm (Iwo Jima Memorial) in Rosslyn http://www.wmata.com/ . At least one porta-john is available year-round, and the water fountain is usually on during the summer months. We run rain (or sleet, or snow) or shine. Following our runs a large group usually head over to Whitlow's on Wilson http://www.whitlows.com/ for an (optional) brunch.

All runners are welcome to join us (even if you don't want to run the same distance or course as the main group). You can always run out half the total distance you want to run and re-trace your steps back to Iwo Jima.

For more, see the Frequently Asked Questions http://www.dcroadrunners.org/longrun/faq.html or ask Kerry O'Brien,  mailto:kerry@dcroadrunners.org

Starting Saturday October 13th Start time changes to 8:00am every Saturday until summer.

We're looking for volunteers for the mid-point water stops from June 9th through October 20. All that is required is to purchase the water/Gatorade for the week and then staff the water stop for that week. Water and Gatorade purchases will be reimbursed by the club.  To volunteer, send an email to           Kerry@dcroadrunners.org  <mailto:kerry@dcroadrunners.org>  .

May 10 SLR
Hi Everyone,

Once again, I will not be at SLR this weekend! My high school team has their final meet--their league championship meet--this Friday and Saturday.

Kevin D'Amanda has once again agreed to sub-lead SLR for me---the route will be the Fort Scott Hill Route. Here is the cue sheet:
http://www.dcroadrunners.org/longrun/routes/FortScottHillClimb.html

Brian Danza will be providing post-run beverages (and cups!). Many thanks to Kevin D. for running out to get cups last weekend and avoiding a cup shortage riot!

I promise to get the SLR routes for the summer months posted next week (I know that people would like to know the routes in advance so that they can plan better)---I have been a little swamped with high school coaching this days....but that will be over this weekend and I can give SLR the attention it deserves :)

Cheers,
:)kerry.
