Paul Thurston 4.5 Miler (Burke Lake)4.5 Mile race around Burke Lake, in Burke, VA
Distance and course: 4.5 miles. Course is over dirt trails in the woods – one loop around Burke Lake. Registration: On line until noon on race day, and at the race up to 30 minutes before race. Packet Pickup: None. Race-day Information: The race will start promptly at 6:45 PM as we must be out of the park by 8:00 PM. Timing and Awards: This race is timed using the Chronotrack timing system, please familiarize yourself with how the timing tags work by visiting the Chronotrack website. Though this race is chip timed, scores will be determined by gun time for all award winners. This race has two categories of scoring – one is individual and one is for Family Teams. You will only be scored in ONE category and you MUST indicate which you wish to be scored in before the race begins. Awards will be given for First Male/Female and First Team – as well as first in 10 year age groups. This will be a chip timed race so if you are a Club Member and have a chip from a previous race you can use that chip. This race is also the final race in the Summer Bunion Derby Race Series. Location address: 7315 Ox Road, Fairfax Station, VA Directions: From the Beltway – Take the Braddock Road West exit and travel approximately 2 miles. Turn left onto Burke Lake Road (at Kings Park Shopping Center).Follow Burke Lake Road for 5 miles. Turn left onto Ox Road (Route 123 South). *The golf course entrance is the first left off Ox Road (Route 123). The park entrance is the second left off Ox Road (Route 123). Parking: Parking is free – there is NO charge for entrance to the park on weekdays.
