1.         SATURDAY LONG RUNS

The Club holds weekly runs from Iwo Jima on Saturday mornings, beginning at 8 a.m.  This week’s route is a surprise.  Come out (after Boston) and run with us.  (Tell us about Boston!)  For those desiring a shorter run (perhaps because you ran Boston a few days ago and you just can’t stay away), there’s a shorter run option of 6-9 miles.  For more information and to see Saturday Long Run reports, go to http://www.dcroadrunners.org/longrun.  Please send questions concerning the Saturday Long Runs to David Kapson at slrguy@dcroadrunners.org.  Please plan to join us at Whitlow’s on Wilson for breakfast after the run!

2.         TRACK WORKOUTS – TUESDAY MORNINGS ON THE MALL

What: TUMS (Tuesday Morning Speed)

When: Tuesday mornings @ 6:30 am. The workouts are ALWAYS finished by 7:30 am so we can all get off to work.

Where: On the Mall by the Carousel in front of the Smithsonian Castle.

Getting there/parking: Don't forget "Metro opens doors" and if you use metro, you should get off at the Smithsonian Station. If driving, there is plenty of metered street parking. Don’t forget to pay the meter even though they don’t turn on until 7 a.m.

If you are interested in participating, please email Eric at ez@ericzander.com so that he can get an idea of how many people to expect.  Also, if you would like to help direct the workouts, please let Eric know. No coaching experience is necessary to help out.

3.         WEEKNIGHT GROUP RUNS – IN PARTNERSHIP WITH PACERS

Tuesday nights at 7 p.m. – Pacers Arlington (3100 Clarendon Boulevard)

Thursday nights at 7 p.m. – Pacers Alexandria (1301 King Street)

We’re currently running three pace groups – averaging 7:30, 9:00, 10:30/11:00.  JOIN US!

Meet at the store by 7 p.m., run 5-7 miles with some friends, go home and shower!  It doesn’t get any easier than that.

If you have any questions, please email president@dcroadrunners.org or call Pacers at 703-836-1463.

5.         WEDNESDAY NIGHT TRACK WORKOUTS

Here's the inside track on setting PRs: Whether you are attempting your first half-marathon, hoping to qualify for the Boston Marathon, or pursuing an Olympic Trials QT for 10,000 meters, our speed sessions will help you meet your running goals. To feel the burn--and have fun doing it--join us for our Wednesday night track workouts, starting at 7:15 p.m.  Personal training advice is available from the USA Track & Field-certified coach, as well as from the many other "regulars" who have experienced the highs and lows of training, injuries, and competition.  Novice runners are always given a workout suitable to their level of fitness. This is the best place in town to meet other committed runners dedicated to improving their level of performance.

Our weekly track workouts are held at Washington-Lee High School in Arlington.

Directions: From Washington DC, take I-66 east to the Glebe Road exit, turn right on Glebe, right on 15th Street for about 0.4 miles, to Stafford Street, turn right and cross over I-66 and the school is on your left. From Vienna and points west in Virginia, take I-66 east to the Fairfax Drive exit, follow Fairfax Drive for about 0.8 mile to Stafford Street, turn left for about 0.3 miles and the school is on your right.

From Alexandria, take Glebe Road going north until turning right on 15th Street, and proceed as from DC.

Metro:  Washington-Lee is also a short walk from both the Virginia Square and Ballston Metro stations on the Orange Line.

7.         VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

Race Volunteers for the GW Parkway Classic on Sunday, April 23rd.  (DCRRC is partnering with Pacers in this effort.)  Are you an Alexandria resident living in the proximity of the Parkway?  We need you!  Please contact Susan at president@dcroadrunners.org.

Club Attire Coordinator - DCRRC is looking for someone to sell club merchandise.  This involves maintaining a stock of the club’s attire, coordinating shipping or delivery of attire to club members interested in purchasing it.  It also involves accepting checks and sending them to the club treasurer.  Ideally, the coordinator of the club’s attire would also attend some DCRRC events to display clothing to club members, but this is not required.  Anyone interested should email president@dcroadrunners.org.

SLR Beverage Managers – Our Saturday Morning Long Run group is looking for people to be responsible for beverages for one month terms.  Particularly if you are an “SLR Regular”, please consider signing up for a month and giving a little back to the group that gives you so much!  If you are willing to be a one-month beverage manager, please contact David at SLRguy@dcroardunners.org.  Thanks in advance for helping out.

Awards Chairman – Pat Finn has dutifully held this position for a decade.  He’s passing the baton.  Are you interested?  Please contact Susan at President@dcroadrunners.org if you wish to keep our club supplied with awards for our events.  Thank you.
