2. SPRING 10K TRAINING PROGRAM
Once again, the DC Road Runners Club is partnering with the Arlington YMCA for a 10K training program. The program will begin Saturday, February 18th. It will last twelve weeks, with the goal race being the Arlington YMCA Mother’s Day 10K, a race which DCRRC co-sponsors with the YMCA. (Program participants may choose to run other 10Ks, of course, but the program fee includes a free entry in the Mother’s Day 10K on Sunday, May 14, 2006.)
The cost for the 10K Training Program is $40 for DCRRC members (non-members pay $52, as their fee includes a DCRRC membership). Runners will meet at the Arlington YMCA on Saturday, February 18th at 8 a.m. for orientation. All participants must fill out the forms found at http://www.dcroadrunners.org/Programs/10ktraining.htm.
Groups will be formed, based on runners’ experience, abilities and goals. All levels of ability can be accommodated. Participants should come to the first meeting prepared to go for a short run. Runners will have access to the locker room facilities each week, including showers, towels and sauna. Bagels and Gatorade will be provided each week, as well as high quality coaching advice.
Groups will meet Saturday mornings at 8am at varied locations in the Arlington, Alexandria and DC metro area. Some of these locations may not be metro accessible. This program is for all ability levels. No prior running experience necessary. For more information, please contact Kristin at 10Ktraining@dcroadrunners.org.
