Races – Past and Future: The Bon-Air race drew about 115 runners, Brown said. The Fourth of July Age-Handicapped race drew about 140 runners, Ian Clements said. The Women’s Distance Festival is scheduled for Aug. 11, Maher said. The Larry Noel Greenbelt 15K is scheduled for Sept. 1 and will be part of the RRCA Championship Series, as in the past, Platt said.
Other Business
RRCA Convention: Platt said that RRCA is facing a cash crunch and is considering not having its 2003 convention, which is supposed to be held in Washington, DC. The board discussed ways DCRRC could support the convention and whether to look into asking other RRCA clubs in the DC area to help. It was agreed that when Maher speaks with RRCA Executive Director David Dobrzynski she will offer the club’s help.
Van: Brown reported that after some club races the club van is messy and low on gas. He suggested that the club have van instructions that remind race directors and volunteers to keep the van clean and to fill up the gas tank if the level goes below one-quarter full.
