Committees/Reports
Treasurer: George Getek distributed a report showing the club’s
income and expenses.
Membership: New Membership Chair Debi Maguire reported that she’s cleaning up the club’s membership database.
Training programs:
Marathon Training Program – Coach Joe Boys said 53
runners are participating, under the direction of seven student intern coaches
from GWU and one volunteer coach from DCRRC. The runners receive cholesterol,
body fat and other tests at the start and end of the program. The runners
must agree to participate in a minimum number of training runs or forfeit
their place in the training program.
Wed. night track workout – Posner reported that the
program is going well.
Saturday Long Run – Maher reported that the program
is going well.
Newsletter: Maher reported that Hart is correcting the formatting and other problems with the newsletter.
Education: Posner said he’s looking for venues for a stride clinic.
Scholarship: Platt reported that he’s trying to recruit candidates for scholarships.
Welcome Wagon: Posner reported that the effort is going well.
Past and future races
Past:
Fourth of July Age-Handicapped Race - Ian Clements reported that
the National Park Service denied the club’s permit application three
days before the race. Consequently the race was held at Belle Haven instead
of Carderock. He suggested applying for permits as early as possible.
One Hour Track Run - Posner reported this race went well.
Upcoming race - Belle Haven 8-K on July 23.
Maher adjourned the meeting at 8:45. The next meeting was scheduled for Aug. 14.
