Maher noted that the 10K Training Program ended in May with participants running
in the Mother’s Day 10K or in the Capital Classic 10K. Guenther said the
Marathon Training Program is underway with 67 participants, including three
coaches. The group, which is divided up into beginner, intermediate and advanced
groups, meets for a long run on Saturdays and will start to meet Wednesday nights
for a track workout. Volunteers are needed for coaching and for water stops
on the long runs. Grant reported that 50 to 60 people attended the club’s
Wednesday track workout. So far, the club has received no bills for the lights
at the track, Grant said. Ian Clements reported that about 35 people attended
the Saturday Long Run last weekend.

Volunteers: Parkin reported that she has a pool of members who have agreed to volunteer for club races. She said she receives the names of volunteers from the membership chair. Then when volunteers are needed, she send an e-mail message to the pool of members.
Welcome Wagon: Posner has made five phone calls so far to new members. He said he tells the new members about the club website, asks them their running goals and describes how the club can help in achieving their goals.
