Committee Reports:

Treasurer:  Getek submitted a draft of the 06-07 budget for board member approval.  Several ideas for ways to spend Club money in the coming year were proposed.  The budget was adjusted to account for new expenditures related to the storage of the Club van and Club equipment, as well as the purchase of an updated finish line system.  The finalized 06-07 budget will be voted on by the membership at the annual meeting on Sunday, April 2.

Membership:  Diegoli distributed DCRRC membership statistics by gender, state, member type, age group and gender, and age group and state.

Training Programs

Track:  Coach Grant reported that workouts have been on the trails and a makeshift dirt “track” lately due to conflicts with high school sports taking place in the stadium.  Attendance has therefore been light but workouts will soon resume their usual location.

Saturday Long Run:  Kapson reported that the numbers have been high despite winter weather and the runs have been going well.

10k Training Program:  Blanchat reported that the training program is progressing favorably towards its May 14th goal race.

Newsletter:  Kathy Crowder introduced herself to the board; she is taking over as the new newsletter layout person.  The next newsletter is in progress with a deadline of Wednesday, March 15.

Hill Workouts:  Martz reported that the monthly hill workouts are going well.

Website:  A new webmaster, Bill Bondurant, has taken over the maintenance of the Club website, and is currently working on a new design for the site to be released soon.

Teams Update:  Aaron Cheskis is no longer stepping down as Teams Coordinator in the coming year.  Emails will circulate recruiting for upcoming Club team opportunities.

Past and Future Races

Past:  The GW Birthday Marathon and Relay as well as the Custis 12k occurred recently and were successful.

Future:  The Snowball Series of races will be wrapping up this weekend with the Ft. Hunt 10k.  Other upcoming races include Run vs. Row, Run for Their Future 5k, and the Steve Thompson 15k.  As always, race volunteers are needed.

Other Business

Next Year’s Board:  Paul Thompson, a member of the nominating committee, was present to discuss candidates for next year’s board.  The nominating committee is responsible for creating a slate of candidates to present to the Club membership at the annual meeting on April 2.  Board positions include President, Vice-President, Treasurer, Virginia Representatives, DC Representatives, Maryland Representatives, and Secretary.  Any Club member can petition to be on the slate of candidates for the board by submitting a petition including 25 member signatures before the annual meeting.

Volunteer:  The Club is currently in need of an awards person to take over for Pat Finn and a merchandise manager to replace Kristin Blanchat.

Bob Platt gave an update on the recent RRCA convention.

O’Brien adjourned the meeting at 8:45pm.
