Committee Reports:

Treasurer:  Hage distributed Treasurer’s report on Getek’s behalf showing that our expenses have exceeded income for the current reporting period.  Several large expenses such as RRCA dues, Bunion Derby awards, the newsletter, and the membership directory were represented this period.

Membership:  Diegoli distributed DCRRC membership statistics by gender, state, member type, age group and gender, and age group and state.

Training Programs

Track:  Track regulars reported that workouts have been going well and attendance has been consistent throughout the winter.

Hill Workouts:  The Wolfes reported that they had hosted the first hill workout of 2006, which was a success.  Martz continues to look for hill workout hosts once a month, and encourages all 10k training program participants to attend.

Saturday Long Run:  Kapson reported that attendance has been high with the mild winter weather.  In addition, the number of runners attending the alternative run option is beginning to increase.

10k Training Program:  Blanchat reported that registration has opened and six coaches are set.  February 18 is the kick-off date of the twelve-week program.  Plans are to allow 50-60 entrants, and hold runs at different meeting places each Saturday.  The program has also organized Tuesday morning speed workouts to take place along the Mall in DC.

Website:  Bill Bondurant has taken over as webmaster for the Club.  His plans include cleaning up the data on the website and improving its overall appearance.  He welcomes any and all feedback.

Newsletter:  A new layout person, Kathy Crowder, has volunteered to help out in this area.  The next newsletter is in the works and articles are currently being accepted.

Past and Future Races

Past:  The Snowball series is underway and participation is good.  Other Club races proceeded as scheduled.

Future:  Preparations are being made for the continuing Snowball Series of races.  Volunteers for two of the Club’s longer races – The GW Marathon and Relay and the Belle Haven 25K – are needed.

Teams:  Cheskis reported on the lack of interest in the Club Challenge race in Columbia, MD.  He hopes to solicit more Club support to meet the minimum number of runners.  Other spring teams have also been created, including the Cherry Blossom Ten-Miler and Boston Marathon.

Other Business

The institution of mid-week group runs out of the DC area was discussed.  Georgetown Running Company was discussed as a potential meeting place, with easy access from the Rosslyn metro.  Additionally, Pacers has teamed with DCRRC to offer two mid-week run options: 7pm from the Arlington store on Tuesdays and the Alexandria store on Thursdays.  These runs cover the same middle distance routes each week with pace groups.  Also, the possibility of morning group runs was discussed, but logistical difficulties remain a concern.

Hage explained that the Club has no official affiliation with the National Marathon.

An article on DCRRC in the Washington Post is expected this Friday.

Venues and speakers for the Club’s Annual Meeting and Banquet were discussed.

Hage adjourned the meeting at 8:30pm.
