Committees/Reports
Treasurer: Pyle distributed a spreadsheet showing the club’s income and expenses, which are about equal. The club is awaiting checks from the YMCA for past races, he said.

Membership: Maher read a report from Membership Chair Jason Gross, who was not in attendance. Membership is stable with more than 1,400 members listed in the database. Eric Zander has volunteered to clean up the membership database for a school project. Also, in a month or so, the club will start issuing membership cards again. In addition, Gross has revised the application, renewal letter and welcome letter.

Training programs:
10K Training Program – Maher said this year’s program will be $40. She asked for the board’s help in finding volunteer coaches for the 12-week program.
Wed. night track workout – Grant reported that attendance has been good through the winter, at 30 to 40 people each week. He noted that he’s been coaching the workout for nearly 10 years and he would like to find an volunteer who would help with coaching duties and eventually take over all the coaching.
Saturday Long Run – Racine said the run is going well and is attracting new people. Also, the group is trying new routes, he said.

Newsletter: The newsletter should go to the printer tomorrow, Maher said.

Welcome Wagon: Maher reported that Posner has been calling new members to welcome them to the club and ask them what services they’d like the club to offer. The answers often are training programs and training partners.

Past and future races: Maher said the New Year’s Day race went well. Brown noted that the Washington’s Birthday race needs volunteers. The board discussed asking the mayor of Greenbelt to start the race. Hage offered to contact her to see if she was interested in acting in this role. Pyle noted that the Fort Hunt race has been changed to March 15 at 8:30 a.m. The website has the correct date.

Other business: The Montgomery County Road Runners Club, which volunteered to host the 2003 RRCA convention, has asked DCRRC to host a hospitality suite. DCRRC would be expected to pay for room rental, drinks and food, which could be expensive, Maher noted. Platt suggested hosting a morning run. Maher said that the Montgomery County Road Runners say they plan to do that. The board agreed that the DCRRC would not host a hospitality suite and that Maher would offer that DCRRC would explore other options with MCRRC.

The meeting adjourned at 8:20 p.m.

The next meeting is scheduled for March 3.
