Hill description: Normanstone Drive/Fulton Street is a small street that follows a creek through the
woods in the midst of NW Washington. It is one of the least traveled roads in
NW and is a favorite running route among the few who know about it. It is just
under 1200meters and increases in steepness as you go. Runners can do different
lengths of their desired gradient.
Directions to hill: Hill runs parallel to Massachusetts Avenue near the Naval Observatory in NW Washington. We will
begin the run at the Starbucks on Wisconsin Avenue (3430 Wisconsin Avenue NW), a few blocks north of the National Cathedral.
*If you want to go directly to hill, it
starts very near the bottom of Mass Avenue at the corner or Rock Creek Drive
(NOT Rock Creek Parkway) and Mass Avenue, which is across from Whitehaven
Street.
Parking: There is a parking lot behind Starbucks,
as well as street parking.
From metro: Starbucks is less than a mile from both the
Cleveland Park Metro and Tenleytown Metro stations. From Cleveland Park Metro,
go up hill on Ordway
Street and
Starbucks is essentially on Wisconsin across the street from Ordway. From Tenleytown, go
down hill on Wisconsin towards the National Cathedral and look for
Starbucks on your right (just before Giant Foods).
Warmup loop: We will run 1.5 miles downhill to the bottom of the
hill.
Places to eat afterwards: Starbucks at 3430 Wisconsin Ave, NW.
