Distance: 10 mile Click here for course map

Race Directors: Aaron Cheskis

Registration: On-site registration begins one hour before the race start (8am). There is no registration prior to race day.

Entry Fee: Free for DCRRC members; $5 for non-members.

Directions: Click here for a map and directions.

Other information: The 10 miler is Snowball Series Race #3 and the club Championship Race for the 10 mile distance.

Course Description: The race starts on the Rock Creek Trail approximately 0.25 miles north of the Ken-Gar Rec Center. The course is an out and back that proceeds south along the trail before turning off on Old Spring Road. There is a waterstop at the intersection of the trail and Old Spring which is the 4.25/5.75 mile points. The entire course is on a paved surface.

FAQs: Q: Will the course be marked? A: Yes, each mile will be marked as well as the turns on the course.

Q: Will the results be posted online? A: Yes, results will be posted by the end of the day Monday if not sooner.

Q: Is the course certified? A: No, the certified course has the start/finish in the field adjacent to the rec center which does not work well in early January. The start line on the trail is accurate and reverified each year - rest assured it is a full 10 miles.

Q: What is the deal with the race bibs? Do I need to fill out the information on it? A: The bibs are used to help the course marshals and finish line volunteers identify the racers from the other trial users. You do not need to fill out any information on the bib and the tabs will not be collected at the finsih line.

POST RACE WRAP-UP:

Thanks to the runners and volunteers who made the race a success. We broke the previous record number of runners in the race by almost 30. Besides the results on the DCRRC website, an article about hte race has been posted on tristaterunner.com about the race.

If you lost a glove yesterday I have a black, women's small (right hand) glove to return to you. Also, if you left before the awards and did not get your top 3 overall or top masters award please email me your address and I will mail it out to you.

If you have any comments or suggestions for next year's race please let me know.

Thanks, Aaron
