SMR December 21 - Zoo Run (Bao Bao'a Gingerbread House)

Location: Fuse Pilates in Dupont Circle area (2008 Hillyer Rd NW Washington, DC)

Distance: 4-9 miles

Since it is that time of year, let's enjoy the Zoo's holiday decorations of lights and Bao Bao's Gingerbread House  

As always, Fuse opens 10 minutes prior to the start of our runs. If you arrive any earlier the doors will be locked, so just wait outside but you are in the right place!). The SMR runs do not have a sign-in/sign-out so please make sure to stick with a buddy and please click on the route pre-run to decide what option you would like to do. We do have Gatorade, water, and will help you get matched up to someone that is running your pace and distance.

Route for this week

The route for this week is a loop with plenty of options for mileage. We will begin all routes taking a right out of Fuse and making the first left onto Connecticut Ave. Follow Connecticut all the way up to the zoo entrance (Olmstead Way). Take a right into the zoo and follow Olmstead through the zoo to hit Rock Creek Trail. Take a right onto the trail.

4-mile option: Follow Rock Creek Trail to the Calvert Hill. Take a right to go up the hill and at the top turn right onto Calvert Street. Take a right to hit Connecticut Ave and take it back to Fuse. Route map: http://www.mapmyrun.com/routes/view/505882396

5-mile option: Follow Rock Creek Trail to the P Street turnoff. Take a right off the trail to go up to hit P Street and take a right. Follow P Street and take a left onto 21st St NW. Take 21st back to Hillyer Place and Fuse. Route map: http://www.mapmyrun.com/routes/view/505885822

9-mile option: Follow Rock Creek Trail till you hit the Lincoln Memorial. Take a left at the Memorial and then a left onto Henry Bacon Driver. Take a right onto Constitution Ave and follow to 15th St NW. Take a right onto 15th St and go past the White House and take a right onto H St NW and a right onto 16th St NW. Follow 16th St to left onto R St NW. Follow R St NW till it hits Connecticut Ave and take it back to Fuse. Route map: http://www.mapmyrun.com/routes/view/505888654

Following our runs Fuse offers several different Sunday Pilates classes (at cost). There's a 9:30am Fuse Jump with Randi, 10:00am Fuse Focus with Clare, a 10:45am Mat Class with Laci, and a 11:00am Chair Class with Tori to really make your morning hardcore!

Fuse offers several first-timers' class specials and 10% off all other classes and packages for DC Road Runners. So make sure and tell them you're from the running club! It's a great way to get a full well-rounded Sunday morning workout (run then Pilates!).
