Welcome! This is the home of the new SMR (Sunday Mid Run).

The SMR will be offered year round. The summer season runs will start at 7:30AM.

Every Sunday, we meet at Fuse Pilates Studio (2008 Hillyer Place NW) just off Dupont Circle in Washington, DC.

All skill levels and paces are welcome! All weekly routes can be tailored to accomodate shorter or longer mileage options.

SMR September 20 - Rock Creek Park

Date: Sunday, September 20

Time: 7:30AM

Location: Fuse Pilates in Dupont Circle area (2008 Hillyer Rd NW Washington, DC)

Distance: 3-7+ miles

TIME CHANGE REMINDER! We will be moving the start time for SMR to 8:30am in October

Please note Fuse opens 10 minutes prior to the start of our runs. If you arrive any earlier the doors will be locked, so just wait outside (but you are in the right place!). The SMR runs do not have a sign-in/sign-out so please make sure to stick with a buddy and please click on the route pre-run to decide what option you would like to do. We run rain or shine, but will post on this site if at any time the runs are canceled due to serious inclement weather.

Routes for this week

All routes this week begin by taking a left out of Fuse and making the first left onto 21st to hit P Street NW. Take a right on P Street and after crossing the bridge take a left into Rock Creek Park. Make a left onto Rock Creek Trail.

3-mile option: Follow Rock Creek Park Trail until it hits the Calvert Hill. Go up the Calvert Hill and make a right. Make the first right onto Connecticut Ave and take back to Fuse. Route map: http://www.mapmyrun.com/routes/view/533007938

5-mile option: Follow Rock Creek Park Trail until it hits the Zoo. Run up Olmstead Walk through the Zoo. When you reach Connecticut Ave, make a left and take Connecticut Ave back to Fuse. Route map: http://www.mapmyrun.com/routes/view/533008204

8-mile option: Follow Rock Creek Park Trail and continue past the Zoo. Run to Pierce Mill and turnaround. This version is an out-and-back, so you will retrace your path back down Rock Creek Park to P Street. Taking 21st Street back to Fuse. Route map: http://www.mapmyrun.com/routes/view/533008528

For more than 7 miles: Continue up Rock Creek Park Creek Trail north, then turnaround as an out-and-back.

Following our runs Fuse offers several different Sunday Pilates classes (at cost). There's a 9:30am Fuse Jump with Randi, 10:00am Fuse Focus with Clare, a 10:45am Mat Class with Laci, and a 11:00am Chair Class with Tori to really make your morning hardcore!

Fuse offers several first-timers' class specials and 10% off all other classes and packages for DC Road Runners. So make sure and tell them you're from the running club! It's a great way to get a full well-rounded Sunday morning workout (run then Pilates!).

SMR Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What time does the SMR meet?
A:
For the summer/fall season we will start promptly at 7:30am. For the winter/spring season we will start promptly at 8:30am.

Q: Where is Fuse Pilates located?
A: Fuse is located at 2008 Hillyer Place NW, Washington DC 20001. Hillyer is between Q and R Streets NW, right off of Connecticut Avenue. The closest metro stop is Dupont Circle and there is street parking available. 

Q: What is the cost of the SMR?
A: There is no cost to participate in an SMR. For liability we ask that you are a member of DC Road Runners Club. More information on membership can be found here.

Q: Can I just show up? Is there any protocol?
A: Yes, you can just come and show up. There is no protocol, except sometimes we ask if there are any new people just to say hi.

Q: How fast is everyone?
A: We have all paces from 8 minute miles to 14 minute miles.

Q: What if I don't want to go the full planned distance?
A: No problem, just turn around when you've gone half as far as you want to. There are usually runners going 2-3 miles shorter, and even some maniacs who go further.

Q: I have a specific race I am training for, will this group work for me?
A: The SMR functions as an informal run without formal coaching. We will have coaches on-hand, but if you are looking for a specific time goal or race strategy we suggest you check out the DC Road Runners formal half or full marathon training programs.

Q: What is the difference between the SLR and the SMR
A: The SMR is a new concept geared to runners who are looking to start distance running and will offer run distances of 2-13miles. The SMR is also geared to medium to slow paces. The SLR typically is geared to higher distances and fast to medium paces.
