SLR January 13 - Normanstone Klingle

Hello Saturday Runners!

For the first time since its re-opening, this week's route will be just under 13 miles to the Normanstone Klingle loop (downloads: cue sheet & GPS). Instead of the old abandoned road at Klingle, you now get to run down a brand new paved trail! For a longer run you can continue further up Rock Creek, or add 4 miles by running a second loop around Normanstone-Klingle. While we've got some rain on the way Friday, it will hopefully move out overnight and things will be dry on Saturday morning. I'm going to be out of town this week, but Coach Jonny will be there to start things off for SLR and the Marathon Training Program!

Many thanks to Bonnie Harvey for post-run drinks this week and over the past month! We now need more volunteers for post run drinks, so take a look at your calendar and let me know what you can do. Post-run drinks will not resume until the next volunteer steps forwarwd! The weekly schedule of volunteers, routes, and distances is always kept up-to-date on the SLR web page, and you can email me any time to book your slot. For more info on how volunteering works, please first see the SLR FAQ, and after that get in touch with me if you'd like any additional details.

Registration is now open for the RRCA Club Challenge Ten Miler, on February 26. This is a great event where you can represent our club among the other RRCA chapters in DC and Maryland, while testing yourself on a challenging course! The club will pay your $10 entry fee, but you must be a current DCRR club member or else your name will be removed from the roster. We'll also provide bus transportation to the race, with pickup and dropoff at Courthouse and Dupont Circle, which will have separate registration to be announced soon.

Happy running,

Mike
