SLR May 28 - Cathedral-Clintons

Hello Saturday Runners!

On Saturday, May 28, we will be running the 13 mile Cathedral-Clintons route (additional map here). For a shorter run, I'd recommend out & back on the Rock Creek Park trail, or for a longer run you can add extra miles up and down The Mall before heading back over Memorial Bridge. Please refrain from all election discussions while running this route, even though we'll be passing the Clinton house :)  The weather forecast for this week looks like it will make up for last week's downpour with some nice sunshine, but we're getting our first HOT Saturday of the year, with a high temp predicted at almost 90 deg! Be sure to carry fluids with you if you'll want them during the run, and don't hesitate to adjust your pace for the heat.

Speaking of hot weather, our planned start of mid-run beverages would normally be next week, but we don't yet have any volunteers. Mid-run beverages will only start after we have volunteers to provide them for us, so if you enjoy this part of SLR then please step up! Thank you Paul & Christine Westcott for post-run beverages!

Don't forget that we will also be moving our start time to 7:00am starting next week (June 4).

Up-to-date future volunteer needs and a route schedule are always posted on our web page, and you can email me to schedule your slot. For mid-run beverages, any week you're able to volunteer is appreciated, but for post-run beverages it's best if you can cover two (or more!) consecutive weeks at a time, to cut down on hand-offs of the bins. If you enjoy or benefit from the entirely volunteer-supported beverages at our runs, please do your part - it's easy, and you'll be reimbursed for all expenses.

Happy running!

Mike
